Cotton Candy Frequently Asked Questions

I have some great photos from my event using your cotton candy. How can I have them published on your web site? We love photos. Simply attach your photos to an email and send to: flosszone@gmail.com

We will publish them in our photo gallery that will be added soon to our site.

When should I order? As your order will not be produced until the morning of the day it will ship, you may order any time up until shortly before your event provided you leave enough time for shipping. Click here to see the FedEx transit times:

http://www.flosszone.com/id25.html

It is always better that we know ahead of time what you will require and when. If in doubt please call us at 1-501-623-2638 as Flossie’s Foods, Inc., will not be responsible for missed events.

If I am ordering online through your web site, how do I tell you when I want it shipped? You can enter misc. information in the field labeled “Instructions to Merchant” in PayPal. It’s the only field where you can enter anything “freestyle” you want.

I see that I can buy from you online through PayPal but I don’t have a PayPal account. You don’t need a PayPal account to process the transaction.  When you choose to “Pay now with PayPal” from the shopping cart / shipping calculator it will take you to the log in screen of PayPal. About mid-screen you will see “Don’t have a PayPal account?” If you click there you will be able to process the transaction using a credit card without establishing a PayPal account. You can also call us with your order at 501-623-8589.

What’s the shelf life of cotton candy? Store the candy in a cool & dry area away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity. Our stated optimal shelf life is 45 days. The cotton candy is actually fine for several months if stored properly. Consider the fact that store bought candy is typically 2-3 weeks in national distribution before it reaches a shelf near you. As we produce your order the morning of the day it ships, you are at the absolute beginning of the shelf life of our candy.

What are clear bags? Clear bags are without print, logo or decal. They are offered for those who wish to affix their own label or decorate to their own creative taste.

Do you customize or print labels for the bags? YES!  We can print labels via thermal transfer. Print is black on 4"x4" white labels or COLOR on 4"x4" white labels.

Labels cost 20¢ per label for BLACK or 40-50¢ per label for COLOR (depending on number of colors). There may be a "setting" fee if your color label will include a photograph.  We cannot reproduce photographs with black labels. Call us at 1-501-623-2638 to inquire or to place your order.

How big are the bags / cotton candy? It is difficult to convey ounces without looking at a sample. There are 2 ways to approach this.

1)      The physical dimensions of the candy itself (not the bags) are approx:

1.0 oz. 5.5 in. Long x 4 in. Wide x 1.5 inches Thick.

2.4 oz. 7 in. Long x  5 in. Wide x 2.5 inches Thick.
3.4 oz. 9 in. Long x 6 in. Wide x 2.5 inches Thick
.

2)      When you buy cotton candy that’s made in front of you on a cone or stick, you get an average of 1 ounce of cotton candy but it is poofy and airy. As it is not possible to ship cotton candy in big “poofy clouds” (it would mash and wad in the box), we tamp the cotton candy to make it denser so that it can fit into a box with other bags of cotton candy and ship. However, tamping does bring the footprint of the candy down. Our 1 ounce bag is equal to , weight wise, what you get on a cone or stick. The 2.4 ounce is about double and the 3.4 ounce is over triple.

Why the shipping? Cotton candy doesn’t weigh much. The delivery companies do not charge on weight alone. As they must charge to provide shipping, they calculate it by dimensional weight. So whatever area a box of candy displaces in a cargo hold has a shipping price. Also, cotton candy does have weight. If you are a business, you can call us with your order and we will calculate the shipment with the lower business delivery charge from FedEx. When calculating shipping, please be mindful that it is calculating transit from Hot Springs, Arkansas, to your zip code. The farther you are from us, the more shipping it requires. Still, if you take the total of the order with shipping and divide it by the total # of bags in the order, you will find that no matter where you are in the US, each bag will still be under retail with plenty of room for a resale margin. Also, we encourage you to compare our lower shipping and faster transit times with other cotton candy companies on the web.  No matter what companies claim there is no such thing as "Free Shipping". The correct term is "Shipping Included". We simply prefer to break it out and inform you of this neccessary cost specific to your location.

How do I compute the shipping costs?  Simply click on “Add to Cart” beside the case count you want to compute and the shipping calculator screen will appear. Type in your zip code and click “Update Cart” to see the shipping charges.  This screen does not give you a choice beyond normal FedEx Ground to a residence. Business Ground, Overnight and 2nd Day Air requests need to be discussed per phone first. Please check this link first to see how many days your shipping will take per Fedex Ground: http://www.flosszone.com/id25.html

What if I want it shipped overnight?  We do ship Overnight and 2nd Day Air but because of the urgency of an overnight order, we ask that you call us with these orders so that we can make sure they ship in time.

Can I use a purchase order to order and pay later? If you are a school or municipality, we will pre-ship against a purchase order or a request on formal letterhead. Please call 1-501-623-2638 for assistance with this.

Do you offer other colors/flavors besides Pink & Blue? We produce pink (strawberry) and blue (blueberry) in bulk.

Why do the sample boxes cost $6.00 to ship? Because of the sheer volume of sample requests and the fact that our candy is tremendously discounted to accommodate shipping costs, we have to charge what it costs to ship them.  The sample box is really there for the customer who wants to order a large quantity of cotton candy but wants to make sure of the quality and size of bag first. We are simply passing the shipping costs on to those who want samples to keep from having to raise the prices of our cotton candy to others.

Can I order less or more than the case counts on your web site? The case counts are fixed so that the cases are not over or under stuffed. Because of this, we do not change the number of bags that fit into the different size cases.

Do you offer volume discounts? The volume discounts are already built into the cases, hence, you pay less per bag for the 240 count 1.0 oz. than the 50 count 1.0 oz. For shipping purposes, the maximum case counts are there to consolidate your large order to save shipping smaller/multiple boxes which costs more.  If you are a business, school or municipality (non-residential), we can extend the reduced business shipping rate that FedEx offers. You will need to call us at 501-623-8589 for the business shipping charges.

We need donations for our cause. Do you donate product? We concentrate our charitable efforts to our local causes. However, you might want to consider conducting your fundraising as a business. We take orders from many charity organizations, i.e., churches, PTAs, and others, who buy our cotton candy and sell it to raise funds.

I selected a case of cotton candy and a box of cotton candy samples but it would not compute my shipping. Why? Because the sample box has a fixed rate of $6.00 shipping, it cannot be combined with other items in the shipping calculator. The reason for this is because the sample box actually costs more than $6.00 to ship to the west coast. We capped the shipping at a fixed rate so that it would not exceed $6.00 regarless of where you live.

Is it possible to get tracking numbers for my shipment? Yes. We generate FedEx tracking #s to your email address on the day that your order ships.

I didn’t receive my tracking numbers. How can I get them?  Simply call us at 1-501-623-2638. Some email systems will toss legitimate emails into your SPAM (trash) folders and delete them after 24 hours. YAHOO email is known to have a problem rec'ving tracking numbers from the FedEx server.

I wasn’t able to pay online for my purchase. It said something about enabling cookies? Your “cookies” must be enabled in your internet browser to complete the online transaction. Otherwise, call us with your order at 1-501-623-2638.
